SFC - Shoah Film Collection
is an initiative by VideoChannel - video project environments was launched on occasion of 65th return of the Liberation of the Concentration Camp of Auschwitz on 27 January 2010.
A Virtual Memorial Foundation & VideoChannel are inviting film and video makers to submit proposals of artistic film and video works reflecting the topic of “SHOAH” and the various incorporated thematic aspects going even far beyond.
It is the aim of SFC to contribute to keep vivid the memory, so that genocides like SHOAH and other crimes against humanity cannot happen
again.
SFC will be presented simultaneously online and will have a physical basis in Cologne also via screening in physical space via cooperating partners, and is planned to form the basis of the future exhibition project “Draft Title: Shoah”
The film and video artists who want to submit are encouraged to inform themselves intensively about the subject matter before they submit a film/video in order to find their individual approach which may be as historical as most contemporary in different concern. The human dimension makes SHOAH a topic and matter which has the potential to affect all people since the values of humanity are vivid and valid as long as human invidividuals are living, no matter the cultural, ethnic, religious or social background the may come from.
These are the rules for submitting:
1. Deadline: ongoing
2. Selection on an ongoing basis
3. The films/videos may originate since 1.1.2000
4. Only complete films are accepted, no excerpts!
5. The films/videos can be submitted only in a digital format –>
Quicktime, AVI, mpeg2, .flv ( min. size 640×480) via an upload platform like SENDSPACE - www.sendspace.com or an URL online
5. The duration of a film/video may be min. 1 minute and max. 15 minutes, the duration may be exceeded, but only on request.
6. Max. 3 films/videos may be submitted
7. Films/videos produced in another language than English, need in any case English subtitles
